All you need is FAITH

Daily Devotionals 10/19

on October 20, 2016

Idols… be careful to fall prey to such idols… what idol hangs over your head? Me…. my phone! I often have it in my hand and have to remind myself to just “put it away” and leave it be! I can say you excuses,  I use it for work, my son will message me, I use it to determine where my son is sometimes and or my husband calls, emails from teacher, pay bills, etc., so it has its functionality, but it also has its moments it pulls me in and doesn’t seem to release. I also have my bible app on it… dangerous, but for me easier to remember and it’s a “tag along.”

Doesn’t make it right to have “excuses” as to why something is useful to me or not, it’s still my idol or something that has the ability to make me selfish and take over me from my God… keep me away from my priorities and my family! Work in progress!

“Day in and day out, God demonstrates His mercy, power, and provision, yet in the pause it is easy to forget His faithfulness. We become impatient and try to rush the wait especially when life hangs in the balance or our funds have run dry. We often can’t wrap our head or heart around God’s timing or ways. When our pause seems more like a wilderness, we must be determined to strengthen our faith by trusting His timing. Cling to His peace, and remember—God has a history of working miracles.” – Wendy Pope

Giving and receiving….

Both are great, but one is better and holds great love in the gift of it… giving! Doesn’t have to be lavish, obviously, nor monetary. It can be of your time, love, attention, workmanship, etc. so many ways to give and not pay for a single item.

Giving love is so precious, and Gods love for us is precious. So why shouldn’t we share this with others?

“Everyone desires to be loved and accepted. But many of us try to find happiness the wrong way. We attempt to find it in getting, but it is found in giving. The love of God is the most wonderful gift we are given. Once it flows to us, it needs to flow from us to others; otherwise, it becomes stagnant.” – Joyce Meyer

God shaped hole... we have one…. once we accept Christ as our savior that heart becomes God shaped, so to speak, and allows the Holy Spirit to guide us and infiltrate our body, spirit and mind to become more like Christ… but you have to fuel, the Word! Are you staying in the word to maintain this shape you so desperately wanted when you said “yes” to God?

God gave you an ability, a gift! Do you know what that is? Are you using it to advance the Kingdom and bring others to Christ? Are you allowing Him to work through you with this talent? Your words? Your movements? Maybe even the people you come into contact with on a daily basis, or weekly!

Eventually you’ll have an impact on someone you meet. God put you here as a test…. a trust…. a temporary assignment. He’s watching to see if you’re faithful to assist others with your gifts/blessings and help lead them. You may not be the person to see them come to Christ, but you may be the person planting the most important seed that someone else is going to water and harvest. Be a blessing, be a friend, be a stranger that will lead another stranger….

God will and can use anyone… don’t you worry about when or how, He knows what he’s doing! You just follow and be obedient to His commands!

“When God made you, he gave you all kinds of gifts, talents, and abilities. We call it your S.H.A.P.E.: your spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality, and experiences. These five things make you you. And God made you you. There’s nobody like you in the whole world, and he wants you to be you for his glory.” – Rick Warren
